Our 13-Point Generator Preventative Checklist Includes the Following:

  • Replace All Spark Plugs Annually
  • Change Engine Lubrication Oil and Oil Filter Annually
  • Replace the Air Filter
  • For a Liquid-Cooled System, Check Antifreeze Levels and Condition and Clean the Radiator of Any Debris
  • Check, Clean, and Lube All Linkages
  • Check the Battery Charging System, Alternator, Starter, and Governor
  • Check the Entire Unit for Fuel and Oil Leakage
  • Service Battery(s): Add Water, Clean Posts, and Replace Corrosion-Inhibiting Pads if Necessary
  • Remove All Carbon and Dust Deposits From the Generator
  • Conduct a Safety Shutdown Check and Run the Generator (Check Voltage, Frequency, and Instruments and Adjust Carburetor and Governor)
  • Test Generator Under Available Load From Home by Performing an Automatic Transfer Switch Test (Access to Switch Gear Required)
  • Check the Automatic Switch Gear, Connections, and Components
  • Submit the Technician Report to the Owner and Advise Them on Additional Parts/Labor Required
